One with satisfaction
So far so good for 2011, though the month of January ended rather quickly, much was accomplished.
I was honored to be named Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA) female athlete of the year and Jamaica’s Sportswoman of the year for my efforts on the track in 2010. I want to congratulate Jermaine Gonzales and Chris Gayle for being named JAAA male Athlete of the Year and Sportsman of the Year, respectively. At the function where the Jamaica Sports Personalities were named, my idol Merlene Ottey received a Lifetime Achievement award. While in Jamaica for the award ceremonies, I took advantage of the warm weather via training.
I left the warmth of Jamaica and took part in my first and only indoor competition for 2011. After approximately 35 hours of difficulties with multiple failed attempts to get into the New York area due to inclement weather conditions, I was fortunate to arrive in the “Big Apple” with just enough time to get a few hours rest and sharpen my mental focus for the competition, thankfully, the results proved that it was worth it after all.
