Back in training, time is flying by for Campbell-Brown

In the latest instalment of her IAAF Diary, World 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown recaps what’s been happening in November…

“Although I am in the speed business, nothing I have encountered in my career can match the speed with which November came and went – haha! Perhaps it was the fact that I am now fully in training for the 2013 season. Whatever the reason, I am unsure; however, we are now on to December.

I spent a week in Jamaica doing some work with my Foundation and of course training and wrestling with the temptation to indulge in table delicacies. I am quite pleased with the progress of my Foundation and the positive impact it is having in the lives of the girls that are being provided for and we are looking forward to further inroads.

My training so far has been satisfactory and I will continue with a gradual build up to the 2013 season which has the IAAF World Championships in Moscow as the centrepiece of the year.

Each November our sport recognizes the athletes of the year. It is a time when the top three nominees experience both tension and excitement. I have had the privilege of being a top-three nominee so I can speak first hand of the situation. Usain Bolt and Allyson Felix were the athletes chosen from a very competitive group and I extend my congratulations to them.

At home, I have been doing the usual – training, fellowship, reading and watching some of my favourite movies and sports. Omar and I quietly celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary at home during the month.
